Shigaraki ware is one of the six ancient kilns of Japan.
They are carefully made by artisans in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, who carry on traditions born from a long history dating back to the 8th century.

The clay used as the raw material is coarse, lightweight, and highly fire-resistant.
It is made by mixing three types of clay with different properties, which makes it strong and suitable for making large or thick objects.

"DONBURI" is a bowl of rice that takes advantage of this characteristic.
The extra effort required to scrape the surface, which is a unique feature of Shigaraki ware and requires the artisan's intuition, not only makes the piece lighter, but also reveals the unevenness caused by the large and small stones that are inherent to the pottery, creating a unique, rustic, and warm texture.
When applying the glaze, special scissors are used and the glaze is applied carefully, with the utmost care and varying the speed.

In Japan, there are different dishes for each type of food, but the "donburi" is a versatile dish that can be used for rice, noodles, and other dishes.
This is a reliable product that allows you to enjoy a casual meal or Japanese cuisine easily in one dish.

●First, since pottery has coarse clay particles and is absorbent, the clay is sealed to prevent dirt and odors from absorbing.
1. Wash with lukewarm water to remove dirt.
2. Put rice water or water mixed with flour or potato starch into a pot, immerse the product in it, put it on the stove and boil slowly over low heat for about 30 minutes.
3. Turn off the heat and let it cool naturally, then wash off any slime and dry thoroughly.

Before use, rinse with water and wipe with a soft cloth to prevent stains and odors.

●Care instructions: Ceramics are absorbent, so they contain more moisture than you might imagine. Storing them in a damp state can cause odors and mold, so it's important to dry them thoroughly.
1. Avoid soaking for long periods of time. Instead, wash with a soft sponge and dishwashing detergent.
2. Finally, pour hot water over the item to thoroughly remove any dirt. This will also help it dry faster.
3. Turn the container upside down with the base facing up and allow it to dry thoroughly before storing it in a cupboard or other storage location.
