42 Soun Cloud-Inspired Hand-Thrown Japanese Serving Bowl

Soun is a creative and imaginative piece inspired by the feeling of surrendering yourself to drifting white clouds. As you take in the unique expression of each piece, it evokes a sense of wonder, admiration, and affection for the beauty of the natural world.

Individually thrown on the potter’s wheel, this generously sized bowl has a dynamic handcrafted form and is designed to bring a sense of celebration to the table. Its versatile shape makes it ideal for pasta, salads, simmered dishes, shared meals, and a wide variety of other cuisines.

In Japanese, the expression “utsuwa ga ookii,” literally “to have a large vessel,” is used to describe a generous and broad-minded person. This association gives a large bowl an especially auspicious meaning, making it a thoughtful gift for weddings and other celebrations.

Combining meaningful symbolism with traditional craftsmanship, this one-of-a-kind NINSHU bowl brings artistry, character, and a special sense of occasion to the table.
