This piece captures the vivid blue of Okinawa’s ocean and the lively, effervescent burst of white foam as waves break over the coral reef.

What sets this work apart from traditional Ryukyu glassware is the artisan’s signature technique of incorporating delicate air bubbles into the glass. The ocean changes its look continuously—from crashing waves beyond the reef to gentle, fine-beaded foam softly rolling onto the beach. To convey these ever-changing moods of the sea, the master craftsman went through countless trials before perfecting this unique bubble art.

By skillfully combining glass bubbles across five distinct size tiers, the artist achieves extraordinary depth and delicate detail in every piece.
